Home Office Feng Shui: So You Work from Home

Wednesday October 25, 2006
And how is it going for you? Are you happy with the way your home office is working for you or are you ready to run for your life and find a job outside the home?

Working from home can at times feel overwhelming, especially when you have not established clear boundaries, or when you have a new addition to your family.

A good and very successful client of mine was feeling frustrated and torn apart between her work and her new baby, even though she had a great nanny and plenty of help.

When we met for the next consultation the house looked quite different from what I remembered - the baby's toys, books and various other items took over the whole house, including her office space! It was obvious to me, but it took just a bit of time convincing the client to do the necessary changes and establish clear boundaries.

We organized the chaotic flow of baby's items into a more clear and calming structure. Yes, some of little Tina's toys and books were still in her mom's office, but only what fit into a nice looking basket; the same principle applied to other areas of the home. It actually made it easier for the baby, too, as my client said little Tina started sleeping better at night.

We can all benefit from stronger and clearer boundaries, especially when we work from home. After all, don't we all crave some room of our own?
