Beat the Heat with the Feng Shui Water Element

Friday July 6, 2007
feng shui fountains Coming back from an early jog this morning, I took a different path in the beautiful garden near my home and was pleasantly surprised by a refreshing new water fountain.

With the sun getting really strong, I felt happy to spend some time in the shade and enjoy the sound and feel of cool water.

Do you have water features in your garden? How many and how do they look like? Where are they placed?

Do not have one yet? Below is a link to several outdoor fountains that have an added bonus - they are solar powered!

Feng Shui fountains come in all shapes and sizes, as well as various uses - for indoors and outdoors, tabletop, free standing, wall-mounted, etc. Water element being a vital feng shui element for our health and well-being, it can be easily introduced with fountains, or better yet, with a combination of an outdoor fountain and birdbath like the one featured in this photo (compare prices.) I read your article with great interest, as I have just moved into my home, a 1950’s charmer, and one of the first things I placed was my solar water fountain/birdbath, almost exactly like the one you have pictured.

After trimming all the old shrubs in front, I planted a butterfly garden next to the fountain, hung my new windchimes, placed my small pot of bamboo near the front door walk, and then basked in the beauty of it all.

It’s very satisfying to have the entrance to my home completed before the task of inside “work.”

I also spent a huge amount of time and labor clearing, cutting, trashing much of the overgrown backyard, which was absolutely stifling my chi’ and giving me anxiety issues.

Happily enough, the backyard has a slight slope downwards toward the house, with a stand of bamboo directly in the north by the back fence. Unfortunately, the bamboo is over 30 feet tall! Plans are in the works to trim the bamboo to a more reasonable height, enough to mask the neighbor’s wooden fence, but still lengthy enough to give the proper feel to the energy of the bamboo.

In conclusion, I highly recommend the solar water fountains, with the only drawback being that they only run when the sun shines directly on the solar panels. With the water feature, the butterfly gardens, and the birdfeeder tucked under the roof eave, my home is welcoming to all the positive energy pouring in my front door directly from the south.

I also added medium height solar lamp posts at the dark corners of the east and west areas of my home outside. Very nice, and the lamps come on automatically in the evening and store the energy during the day’s sunshine period.

The next project to clear the inside of the home, is to paint the wooden beams, all 11 of them, which cross the ceiling of the den, then hang something crystal, perhaps a chandelier, in the center of the very awkward room.

Love your frequent newsletter email. Thank you very much for showcasing the very solar fountain that I love so very much.
