Religious Symbols in the Bedroom: Good Feng Shui or Bad Feng Shui?

Is it good feng shui or bad feng shui to have religious symbols in your bedroom? First, let me say this is definitely a sensitive topic.

To me, one's spiritual connection to the divine is a very intimate relationship, in many ways more intimate than the relationship with another human being.

This means there can be no strict feng shui rules, really, as it is only up to you to define how, when and where to honor this sacred relationship.

General feng shui guidelines, though, would encourage you not to have religious symbols in the bedroom.

Ideally, your bedroom is intended only for sleep, relaxation and sexual healing.

What if you have a friend who is experiencing problems in her love relationship and you know she has 3 crosses in her bedroom (read the discussion at our feng shui forum). Would you encourage her to take them out of the bedroom?

Would you tell her this is bad feng shui?

This is not an easy question to answer other than during a feng shui consultation, when the consultant is in the space and has a clear understanding of the energies of people and their home. Even though the cross is a very strong and potent spiritual symbol, it does have different associations, or connections for different people.

You can sure mention to her that it is best not to have the cross in the bedroom. You can also suggest finding a spot in the home that can serve as a prayer area, or meditation space, or any other words we use to define the space for our spiritual practice of connecting to and honoring the divine.

And, of course, as you already know from this site, number 3 is definitely not a good feng shui number for the bedroom! An ideal feng shui bedroom is a bedroom that has a sensual and nourishing energy of love to support the personal growth of two people.

Number three in a love relationship can encourage the energy of trouble, thus it is always wise to avoid prominent decor items in three in your bedroom, be it three big similar pieces of art, three similar statues of Buddha or three big identical vases.
