A Clutter-Free Space for Children is Possible!

My daughter has her feng shui dream home designed up to little details - both outside and inside - with the gardens, pools, guest houses and all the luxuries you see in the home design magazines.

The floor plans of her future house are undergoing constant changes, she re-draws them quite often and has separate folders with visuals and ideas for each room.

I must admit I love watching this process! As the saying goes, monkey see, monkey do. This is especially amusing because she is still a little kid.

My secret wish is that she starts copying my other habits, too, like keeping the closet clean and organized at all times. There is something about feng shui for children and clutter that is really challenging. The way I am dealing with it is, of course, the feng shui way. Mixed with a bit (and sometimes a lot!) of patience.

In the world of energy like attracts like, so if you keep the rest of your house clutter clear and clean (good energy), your child will inevitably learn to manage his or her clutter (bad energy); and good feng shui will win!

I have consulted for numerous homes overtaken by children's clutter and I know it is a real problem. Instead of being constantly frustrated by your children's clutter, though, do take some time to create a clear organizational system, then teach your children to stick to it. Do not forget to give them some time to assimilate the new system; as well as let them make their own mistakes while they are learning.

It might seem like a minor topic - clutter and feng shui for children - but what you are actually teaching your children is to take care of themselves, be responsible for what they own and differentiate good feng shui energy from the bad one.

Not a bad gift to give to your children, isn't it?
